When you think of Christmas, you may think of children giggling as they play with new toys, mum and dad settling down in front of some festive telly after dinner, or nanna in her armchair with a glass of sherry. Fond, lasting memories are what makes this time of year so special.

If you’re lucky enough to be celebrating your little one’s first Christmas, first impressions count! Set the tone of Christmases for decades to come, by making the most wonderful time of the year even more enchanting.

The team at Bundles of Joy has all sorts of tips to make a baby’s first Christmas magical.

Explore our collection of beautiful gifts, personalised keepsakes, and thoughtful products designed to bring joy to you and your tiny tots.

1. Lifelong personalised keepsakes

An embroidered blanket, named teddy bear, or personalised stocking is a great way to gift Christmas keepsakes that last.

Create a bespoke Christmas ornament to hang on the tree each year. As the years pass, the ornament will collect more and more festive memories, which will be treasured well into the future.

Mark the very special occasion with a beautiful red shiny glass bauble, made just for you. This is a personalised keepsake to be treasured forever, presented in an elegant clear box.

2. Visit Father Christmas

Getting a photo with Santa is one of the easiest and most rewarding annual traditions a parent can maintain.

Imagine watching your little one grow up, surrounded by the magic of Christmas, as you capture the moment for evermore.

But you don’t always have to visit Santa’s Grotto to get your festive pic. Grown ups who can get hold of a red dressing gown, red hat, and a big white beard can creatively muster up the magic at home.

Put your first photo in a charming light-up “Baby’s First Christmas” frame, to display cherished memories on your mantlepiece, bookshelf or window sill.

3. High-quality toys

A lovingly looked-after toy can be handed down for generations. How many families have ceramic dolls or childhood heir looms passed down from parent to child?

Bundles of Joy is proud to stock high-quality toys which are sure to endure years of play with your little ones and (hopefully) their children someday, too.

For example, tiny tots will love this Peter Rabbit music box.

4. Make Christmas cards

Get creative this Christmas, by making cards with your baby.

We don’t mean giving them glue and scissors, and expecting them to design their own. Instead, use handprints and footprints to decorate a unique Christmas card which you can keep for years to come!

Top tip: Little handprints make for great reindeer antlers. Simply draw or paint the reindeer’s head, dip your tiny tot’s hands in baby-safe paint, and gently press them onto the card facing outwards.

5. Prepare a treat for Father Christmas

Start a fascination with Santa Claus which is sure to last throughout childhood (and possibly longer), by showing the big man himself has visited.

The night before Christmas, lay out some biscuits and milk for Santa, alongside some carrots and parsnips for his reindeer.

The next morning, place some sooty or snowy footprints near the tree, to show Father Christmas has dropped off his presents.

Use Party Pieces’ unique Father Christmas footprint stencils to add yet more magic to the occasion.

6. Festive pyjamas

Putting your baby into some Christmassy PJs will take your festive season to a whole new level of cuteness. Just think of the amazing photo opportunities - perfect for next year’s Christmas card!

As your little one grows, festive pyjamas can be handed down to the next child, or to little cousins and new family members.

7. Decorate your baby’s room

If you plan to dazzle your family with some fabulous Christmas decorations throughout your home, don’t forget to bring some seasonal style to the nursery!

Hang fairy lights around the room, to provide an extra sense of magic as your baby awakes on Christmas morning.

You may even wish to add a little tree in the room, being careful to keep it out of baby’s reach.

8. Read Christmas stories at bedtime

It may sound old-fashioned, but it doesn’t always take movies or cartoons to conjure up festive magic.

A great story can spark even the youngest imaginations. It’s never too early to share soothing stories, especially festive-themed ones.

Read to your little tot this Christmas. There is a huge selection of baby-friendly storybooks out there - it’s always worth looking in your local charity shop, too.

Finally…

Christmas with a new baby is full of firsts, fun, and a lot of love.

We hope yours is as magical as possible, and that your baby sees as much wonder in this special time of year as we do!
